VBIS and Built – Partnership: VBIS Enabled
Virtual Buildings Information System are pleased to announce a new VBIS Enabled Partner with construction company Built.
About Built
Proudly Australian and privately owned since 1998, Built has grown to be a national diversified general contractor and one of Australia’ largest private construction groups. We’ve built our reputation on being the most responsive, client focused partner in the industry with extensive tier one and large corporation experience.
As the first VBIS Enabled Builder, this collaboration with Built will provide a conduit for trades and clients to leverage the vital information within the model by using the VBIS industry standard asset classification system. This will ensure a more effective and accurate handover at the end of projects.
“Our partnership with Built is significant, as this will provide a crucial link with the industry to ensure that the construction sector is effectively setting up buildings for FM.“
Nathan Semos, Executive Manager - VBIS
Built is a national tier one construction group and one of Australia’s largest private construction groups. With over $2.5bn in revenue and 1,200 employees across Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, Built is a diversified general contractor that offers the scale & certainty of a tier one construction company and the culture & agility to stay ahead change.
Since day one, Built is constantly looking for ways to improve the way the world is built and challenging themselves to solve client and industry problems in innovative ways. The group have been at the forefront of integrating Digital Engineering (DE) into the construction process with a model in every meeting approach. The effective use of asset data is one of the ways Built plan to keep the industry moving forward.
Capturing Asset Information Requirements should be a core part of the construction process, however it is commonly not done effectively. Asset and Product data combined with information from the planning, design, engineering and construction phases provides a golden thread of information that is linked together.
When done effectively, Building Owners get the data they need, in the format they need, for ongoing use during the operations phase.
“To provide the best possible outcome for our clients, both physically and digitally, we need to ensure that the project is set up for success well after practical completion and moving into the building operations phase. By adopting the VBIS standards across our projects, we can provide the foundation for our clients to effectively manage their assets, which ultimately results in a more sustainable building and seamless transition from construction to operation”.
Alun Welsh, Digital Engineering Manager - Built
